Azurite malachite pendant
Pendant necklace made from one 30 X 40 azurite-malachite teardrop cabochon. Chain is made from metallic blue half-moon beads interspersed with green metallic seed beads. Beads around cabochon are 3mm lapis lazuli. Ocean-blue polyester fiber throughout. Silver hook-and-eye clasp with crystal extender chain. Back of piece is finished with ultra-suede.
Azurite, named for its azure-blue color, is often found with green malachite. The two minerals are sometimes mixed together, making its own type of gem, azurite-malachite. These gems can be found in Namibia, Milpillas (Mexico), and Bisbee, Arizona. This cabochon is beautiful. It reminds me of a Van Gogh painting.
Necklace length: 16 inches, adjustable to 18 inches with extender chain.
